Touring Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in all of the United States of America. Because of this, it is full of many different cultures and people.

Perhaps, what Los Angeles, and the entire state of California, is best known for is its involvement in the entertainment industry. Hollywood, a part of greater Los Angeles and the birthplace of film and cinema, has a great deal of attractions and activities related to its past.

One of the most recognizable Hollywood attractions is Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The theater, built in 1927, is still sought after as the number one place for movie premieres today.

Even though Grauman’s is used as a Broadway theater and a place for premieres, it is also an extremely popular tourist attraction. Decorating the front walkway of the theater are the handprints, footprints, and signatures of countless celebrities since almost the birth of cinema.

Anyone who loves film and movies would be wise not to miss this attraction. Not only does the theater itself transport those who visit back to the Golden Days of Hollywood, but the mementos of the famous actors and actresses cemented in the ground in front of the theater are their own little slice of history.

Some noted celebrities who have offered their prints and signature for the display are Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, Henry Fonda, and James Stewart. Other modern-day actors and actresses that have taken part in the cement printing ceremonies are Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, and Meryl Streep.

Another activity for those interested in celebrity spotting in Hollywood to take part in is a home tour. There are many bus tours that take passengers along routes where celebrities live to show them homes of the stars.
Outside of Los Angeles, in the city of Anaheim, is one of the most popular destinations in California: Disneyland. People flock from all over the world to meet some of their favorite characters, ride Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, and see shows and parades.

What once used to be just one amusement park has grown into an entire development of shopping and entertainment. Visitors can stay in one of the many hotels right by the parks or spend the day shopping for gifts in Downtown Disney.

Another amusement park that movie and television lovers will not want to miss is Universal Studios. The park is fully of rides and attractions fashioned after movie and television sets.

One of the most popular rides is the Universal Tram Ride. Visitors can see the sets where some of their favorite movies were filmed, and they may even get to meet Jaws himself!

Los Angeles is home to some of the best high end shopping found in the United States. It has become one of the greatest fashion districts in the world.

Anyone who wishes to design or become involved in fashion usually flocks to Los Angeles to pursue their career. The city’s most famous district for shopping is Rodeo Drive.

Here you can find shops carrying items by every famous designer, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, and Louis Vuitton.

For those interested in the arts, a great place to visit is the Getty Center. The Getty houses art from some of the most talented and recognizable artists in history.

You can see European paintings, Greek and Roman antiquities on display within the museum, or simply marvel at the modern Roman-inspired architecture and gardens found there. The Getty Center has a constant rotation of exhibitions, so you are guaranteed to see something new every time you visit.

Los Angeles also boasts some of the mildest weather on the western coast of the United States. It is a haven for surfers and ocean lovers, alike.

Though the spring and summer are probably the warmest and best times to visit the beach, visitors flock there year-round. Try taking a surf lesson or relaxing on the beach with a good book. You can also try celebrity spotting at Zuma Beach, watch an outdoor volleyball tournament at Manhattan Beach, or take the kids to play at Redondo Beach. No matter what time of year you are visiting, you cannot miss a trip to one of the many beautiful beaches of Los Angeles.

No matter what your interests are, Los Angeles is a place that anyone can visit and be entertained. Take a trip there by yourself, with friends, or with your family as soon as you can!
