What To See And Do During Holidays In Malta

Malta must without doubt be one of the most interesting travel destinations in the world. The island has a very special mix of ancient history, modern amenities, lively nightlife and wide open beaches to offer. The weather is superb nearly all year round and the people add to the enchantment of this very special destination. In the next few paragraphs we will tell you more about holidays in Malta.

The island group of Malta is situated close to the middle of the Mediterranean sea, some 290km/180 miles north of the African continent and 90km/56 miles south of Europe. There are three islands in the group: Malta, Comino and Gozo. The combined population is about 400 000 and the total coastline is about 250 km/155 miles.

The biggest city is the ancient city of Valetta. Here you’ll find a huge array of historical sites – enough to make any archaeologist very happy. There are a number of World Heritage sites and just wandering through the maze of side streets you will find an array of intriguing historical sites wherever you go.

Valetta doesn’t have to stand back to any European city when it comes to dining out. Around every corner you’ll find characterful little restaurants where you can while away the hours with good food and drink. For shopping addicts there’s everything they can dream of: from the quaint little shops of the back streets to stores selling top international brands in the main avenues.

Don’t leave Malta without exploring it’s countryside. It will give you a chance to experience the rugged beauty of it’s open spaces and some exquisite beaches. If you’re into hiking, you will find plenty of opportunities for walking. And beach lovers won’t be disappointed either.

If you’re a history buff, you will love holidays to Malta. Even if you know nothing about history, but just like to sit and watch the world go by from a quaint sidewalk cafe, the island will not disappoint you. And for those who love nature and wide open beaches, Malta will soon become a favorite holiday spot.
